Based on the overwhelming discussion of the correct size of a popcorn bowl – I thought this would fit in with everyone’s expectations of a proper ice cream bowl – for a single serving of course!

Spalted White Birch, 11 ¼” diameter x 3 ¼” high, sanded to 320 grit, 5 coats of Minwax Wipe-On Gloss Poly.

As always, any comments, critiques or opinions are appreciated!

Thanks for looking!

Steve your finally getting a handle on correct size. That is just right for a single serving of ice cream. Rocky Road would look great in your bowl. Super bowl Steve, all of your work is great. Thanks for sharing....Bruce

Thanks for sharing, Steve. I've only roughed out bowls to date but hope to get time to begin finish turning some soon. I like viewing everyone's work as inspiration and to guide me to proper form and finish.

On deck and waiting - I've got a 10" roughed out cherry bowl with a crack I just epoxied last night (tip from friends here) and two red oak bowls that survived any checking from the DNA process.

Your work is always top shelf.

Steve....that is a beautiful, one serving, 2500 calorie ice cream bowl. It would not pass Andy's muster, however, due to it's small 11 inch, 2500 calorie size.

beautiful bowl, I'd say about half a gallon of natural vanilla bean ice cream w/ chocolate syrup would go best......can I give it a try?

That is one sweet bowl you turned there, not because of the ice cream, but cause of the sweet job you did turning that baby.Very well done, you deserve a round of applause from all us turners. Congrats on a job well done. Mitch

From the picture on the interview, you don't look like a BIG guy. Either you don't really eat that much ice cream, or do and have a really high metabolism!

Great bowl! Love the spalting. Is there a wee bit of warping or is it just the picture?

Ben - it's just the photo. When you go to macro mode it does has a tendency to go fisheye a little bit. Hopefully I'll get a DSLR one of these days...

Man, they don't get much nicer than that! That's about the perfect size, form, and nice wood. But maybe a little to pretty to goober up with good old fashioned chocolate ice cream.

Steve - I always thought that I ate a lot of ice cream, but not on that scale of yours.

Another excellent bowl design and finish as always.
