Does anyone here know any tips and tricks on vector cutting 1/4" thick black ABS? I am a noob so please forgive me for any noobish questions or wrong doings:(. I had done a series of searches on anything dealing with cutting ABS. Came up empty. I appreciate any help on this matter.

From my experience, ABS smells pretty bad. It also cuts sloppy. You may want to test a small piece to see if what you want can be done without getting calls from your neighbors.

How do you get away from having a sloppy cut? I am really needing to develop a perfect clean cut. Possible new job oppurtunity depending on this. Again any feed back is appreciated.

First, decide to waste a few pieces testing it. I like to use multiple passes at higher speeds rather than one pass at low speed. I would suggest lowering your ppi into the 300 range to begin.

I agree, the rough edge is from the frequency being too high, and it does better with two pases at a faster speed.

What speed and power do you guys recommend? Thanks for the replies!

Since we don't know the speed or power of your machine I suggest you try using the same settings you use for laminated plastic. since you're trying to cut 1/4" you'll have to adjust accordingly but that would be my beginning point.

I used to have a supplier that laser cut white haircell ABS using inert gas air assist, so as to not char the edges.

I have a 50 watt ULS I believe the model is a m350.

FYI
On a ULS m-360 (50 watt) with settings of
power=100
SPD=2.5
PPI=1000
Air Assist=0
will allow you to cut threw 1/4" black abs with 3 passes.
Thanks for all of the help.

PPI is too high for ABS, I think.

I'd be trying more in the 200-300 range if you can get away with it.
