Hi
I had a trunk of maple out in the garden, and wanted to make some fire wood out of it. But after i had cut a little with the chainsaw I ended up with to bowl blanks... and made this salad bowl from one of them.
The tennon in the bottom neds a little turning, but it is late now, so
I'll have to do that tomorow.
I think the wood has some nice colours and lines... comments velcome.
Size is about 12X5"... sanded to 240 and treated with salad oil.

Cheers
Kaj

Beautiful bowl Kaj! Love the spalted maple! Nice size to your bowl - should hold a healthy size salad! Hope you have some more of this wood left - really good looking stuff!

Nice! Is spalted wood safe for placing food in?

Beautiful wood and classic curve on the bowl is just right. I would like to see a little larger foot if it is to be used as a functional bowl.

Hi Glenn.

Don't know if I have to turn away the foot, or change the design a little.
Realy don't feel like removing to much of the spalted wood.
Please comment.

LOL...hey, I'm just a flat work guy but can appreciate a spun and chopped piece of wood, too! ;) This was just a natural curiosity on my part.... :D
