We have aquired this monster, and I wondered if anyone knows how to remove the helical cutters?

Helical cutters on a lathe? What kind of work are those doing?

Sorry about that Wally must have been suffering from last night when he posted this. What arrived is a 36 inch planer with what must be a retro fit helical head but the set screws holding in the little knives come out part way and thats it. We cannot figure out how to remove them.

The beast weighs 6 ton and we unloaded it with a 3 ton fork lift so you can imagine the drivers surprise when the planer came off the truck and he almost went flying back on.

Thanks, Jim, I suspected it might be a planer but there's a lot I don't know so wasn't sure that it couldn't be some kind of production lathe.

Does it really weigh 12,000 lbs.?

Frank:

Yes it does weigh 12,000 pounds it got weighed at the port when it arrived.

The two 3 ton fork lifts had all they could do to get it inside.
