Here,s something a little different. No finish on this. Just sanded to 12000 inside and out.
Critiques and comments welcome.

Very... very pretty. I love the red color on that can of cherry coke. What kind of dye did you use? Did you carve the tab, then paint it silver?:D

That is a very neat box. Some really nice wood, and the NE is amazing!

Dave great looking box, out of some great looking wood. I turned a lidded vase out of Amboyna. Don't put sanding sealer on it and then poly. I had a lot of trouble getting the poly to dry. I wiped it down with mineral spirits and let it dry. I then sprayed it with lacquer.

In a really good way it reminds me of when my father smoked a pipe. A nice form and finish.

I have had this burl for quite awhile and was afraid to tackle it.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

I like it, especially the way you left the top, and the burl wood.

Very nice. I like that it is different. I still can't figure out how you did the top. I'm guessing that you used large jaws to chuck directly around the top, but how you got it even without leaving marks, and without crushing the live edge of the burl, I don't know. Very nice. I wish I had some of that wood!
