If it were machined from aluminum or steel I would be interested... but since it is plastic I'm not to impressed. Sounds like something Sears would sell.

I read all the reviews....mixed results. Of course, one would have to ignore the reviews of the people who couldn't find the adjustment screws for the track!

For $27 bucks, including shipping, it might not be a bad jig to have in the shop. Personally I would add the longer and taller fences.

When I read the more info page it isn't clear if the whole thing is made of polycarbonate or just the piece that fits the miter slot. If the whole thing is polycarbonate the fact that it's plastic wouldn't bother me. Afterall, were it machined of steel or aluminum we'd be talking a different ballpark for the price.

Like most tools, some folks like it and some don't.

How's it any better than a properly aligned miter gauge?

Shawn,
It essentially removes the potential error from the miter adjustments for each 45.
With the jig, as long as the included angle is 90, then by cutting one side of the joint on each side of the jig, the joint will be 90 - the miter might be 44/46, but the joint will be 90.
If each side of your miter is a 1/2 degree off at 45, then the joint will only be 90 if the two variances cancel. Otherwise it will be 89 or 91 degrees.
If your miter is spot on, then, no difference except possibly convenience.

I have one. Okay to use but mine is somewhere in my shop. My Incra 3000se gives me more confidence, I guess. Godspeed.
