Just finish a NFIP HF. It is 7 1/2" tall and 6 1/4" across. The walls are pretty consistant 3/16". Randy's new hunter style cutter sure does make smoothing the inside easy. This is my first one and would like to do some more. It is finished with I think 7 coats of lacquer. Sorry the the pictures weren't better but headed out of town and the LOML was ready NOW if you catch my drift.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I LOVE this piece. The form is very reminiscent of Southwest Indian pottery, and those colors in the wood are just gorgeous!!!!

Thanks Andy. You had to bring up the past didn't you.:D:rolleyes:;)

Thanks everyone. I am going to be looking for some more of this wood. I have a friend in Florida that gets it quite frequently so he said he would share.

Curtis there is some spalting but that is the color of the wood. The eye's are 7 knots in the wood. If you want it you will pay for it. That vase cost me $48 not including shipping.

Paul I did this one on the Nova. I had Randy build my Articulating Arm unit for it.

Ben it is sprayed with gloss lacquer. I have seen a couple done that way and I like it to shine.

Bill D. the wood came from Florida. Like I said a fellow turner friend got some of it for me. It ain't cheap. About $67 or so a log 10 inches long and 7 1/2" wide.

Congratulations Bernie. Everyone loves this turning and I am one of them. You bought the wood you say , so I guess it was dry when you turned it? No sap like the wet pine I turn? Mitch

Mitch this wood was wet but it didn't seem to have the sap or pitch that most pines have. It really turned nice. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Thanks again. I appreciate it. I am hoping to get some more as I really like turning this wood. One thing I need to watch closer on the next piece is the pith on the bottom is about 1/4" of center. I need to do a better job getting that centered although after soaking with super glue it is not going to do any harm.
