Not much has changed since the last report but I thought I'd post a few detail shots. I have added the ash trim pieces to the tops of the transoms. They are glued and nailed with bronze hold-fast nails. I also added some walnut trim pieces to the tops of the uprights of the stand.

A few little spots to sand and I'm ready to start with the paint and poly.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice touches there, David! The detail you're putting into it is exquisite! Can't wait to see the final product!

Dave, let's have a shot (loose nails) of those bronze nails you mentioned. Are they a marine thing? Is the head decorative?

Thanks guys.

Glenn, what's the rush? ;) Actually, I just came in from applying the first coat of poly to cradle and stand. I might just get it finished before baby comes.

Todd, I'll take a shot of those nails in a few minutes. The heads are flat--not decorative. They are typically a marine product and are available from places like Hamilton Marine and Woodenboat.org.

I really like how you mixed the woods in the stand and cradle. Great work. Looking foreward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks Rob. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished as well.

FWIW, the pink wood on the stand is Lyptus. I added the walnut as a tie in to the cradle. I thought there should be some walnut since there is on the boat itself but I didn't want a huge piece of it. The stand looks heavy enough as it is. I thought walnut would make it a bit imposing.
