Except for the flat top, I still sorta liked this phinial and found an old hf that it almost fit. Re-turned and refinished the finial's base tenon to fit the hf. Not hardly a museum piece, but it was phun. Not a good photo, but was in a hurry.

Looking at your piece, I suddenly visualise the shape of a liquid drop falling into a red bath and splurting back up. Maybe those are the origins of finials altogether. Well done.

Very nice Richard, classic form on the HF and I think the final is spot on :D

Nice work. The contrast between the finial and the body is awsome, and I really like the finial's shape. Very nice finish as well.

Thanks to all for your kind words! Maybe the flat top of the finial kind of follows the flat shape of the hf. We could pretend that it was planned that way.
