Has anyone ever used an automotive clear coat on wood?
My brother in-law is a painter and suggested this because it will not yellow with time.
I wonder if it would make the grain pop?
I am going to get some this weekend and try it out, so I will let you all know the results.

Yep, I have used it. I made a jewerly box about 18 years ago, and it still looks great. And your brother is right, it does not yellow, that is if you are using acrylic urethane. I also refinished a pecan dining table with Glasurit acylic urethane, it turned out beautiful. You cannot beat automotive urethanes, but it is more expensive to use. Also, you have to keep in mind that you NEED a very good ventilation system, and respirator, as these urethanes can be very hazardous. But your brother will know about that. Good Luck, and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks Anthony.
Did that finish enhance the grain any?
I just found another finish I am going to try, its called Wunder finish from Rockler.
It has an amber tint to it and will not yellow either.
