If this is not the correct forum for this post, my apologies, please move it. I searched through April for any post with "Rockler" in it and did not find this information.

This is just a heads-up. If any of you have been holding-off on purchasing Rockler-brand items, as well as some other items, you may want to get it done before 5/10/08, using the current catalog code of H8998, if you want to save some $$$.

Here are some examples of the price increases:

- Rockler Coping sled, was $50, now $60, on sale in catalog for $40.
- V-clamps go up by $5.
- 12" end vise, was $140, now $160 | 7" & 9" vises go up by $10.
- Heavy Duty Tenoning Jig, was $80, now $85, on sale for $64.
- Triton Lumber Rack, was $63, now $68.
- Bunch of other stuff: general store-wide price increase on many items.

I noticed that their prices (that I checked) are now equal to Woodcraft's prices on items that they both sell. I do not know if that means that Woodcraft recently raised their prices as well and/or if Rockler decided to price-match.

Prices have already changed in the stores as of 2 or 3 weeks ago according to the local Rockler manager. Last week, when I was there, he was not going to honor the current catalog price until I showed him a print-out of the shopping cart showing that the prices are good through 5/10/08. He was not happy, but he did it. Since then, I ordered online to avoid that hassle, even though it costs me a little more.

Don't expect them to combine the current catalog prices with the in-store 20% flier and 25% email coupons though. The local manager said there was no way he would do that.

When looking on Rockler's website, the new prices will show on the product pages. The only way you can see the catalog prices is to enter the catalog code on the shopping cart page and the shopping cart will show the catalog prices. I also had to re-enter the catalog code in the coupon code area during check-out to make the catalog prices "stick."

I noticed this also! I've been looking at a clamp, listed as a 2 piece set for $11.95 and just rcvd the Rockler online email cat. and it says Take 20% off any 1 item..
Well there's that $11.95 set of clamps but they're now $17+...They're also charging more for other items that other sources have also..
Can't see myself buying there anymore!

This is too strange. Because everything else in the world is going down in price...NOT! Face it. Everything is going up. Fuel costs plus the decline of the dollar on the world market combined with the fact that almost everything is made "overseas"... well, do the math.

Greetings & Salutations,

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth.

As an ex truck driver and a person that owned his own truck
I think you are going to see price increases in just about anything
and everything you want to be buying due to the crazy prices
of fuel that are out there right now.

Back in 2000 when I owned my truck and fuel was around $1.00 to
$1.25 a gallon I was spending over $1000 a week for fuel with todays
prices that would be $4000 a week and as someone that keeps up
with what companies are paying these drivers and owners these days
I can tell you that the I truly do not know how some of them are making
a living.

I have already seen increases in things that you have to have such
as food and basic items in stores. Just check at the local Wal-Mart
and you will see.

So it is no wonder that supplies and items that companies such as
Woodcraft and Rockler as well as Lee Valley are going to pass on
some increases in what they are having to pay to get their products
to the consumer which unfortunately is folks like you and me.

If you need to ship anything with UPS for instance and check their
rates you will see that they tell you up front that there are added
fuel surcharges on all of their rates and this will continue until
something is done about current prices of gas and diesel.

I too do not like paying higher prices for the things that I would like
to have as well as things that I need to continue to work in my
shop but I clearly understand what is happening and to say that
I will not be buying from a company just because they have raised
their prices on some items is not a reasonable thing for me to do.

I will continue to shop and compare and try to get the best deal
on something that I can but I certainly will not boycott a perfectly
good source of supplies because of a general price increase when I
understand why it was necessary to institute.

I am just passing along my opinion and I know that everyone is
entitled to theirs and to practice their shopping habits in any way
they see fit so please don't take any offense as I am just trying
to offer a different point of view.

Remember we all share a common interest which is wood working
and this forum is such a wonderful place to research and get
different perspectives on just about anything connected with this
hobby, profession or interest.

Please enjoy our ability to express different points of view as well
as our common interests and have a wonderful day in the shop.

20% off one item via online order expires May 4, 2008:
http://www.rockler.com/logon/V8766land.html?ref_id=5204&ref_t=Z&originid=96420173

The 20% (25% if you buy on Fri, Sat, or Sun) in-store coupon was sent via email, but it says at the bottom that I can forward it (says it is for the Denver store only):

Unfortunately, the cost of fuel impacts alot of things.... :(

....It's getting to be cheaper to have pizza delivered for $2 than to go get it ourselves!

I work part time for a friend who makes a line of utility trailers and sells enclosed-car haulers-aluminum utility etc. One of the vendors had a 5% increase in March and just tacked on another 3% last week. Cost of shipping is going way up too. I suspect most material and food products will rise in price because of fuel costs etc.

I have two nephews in the scrap/recycling business. A few years ago, scrap iron was under $25 a ton. Now it is around $235 a ton.

I've been buying most of my tools, and many other items, too, online for years. There isn't a Rockler store in our state. The nearest Woodcraft is 100 miles away. It's so much easier and more cost effective for me to order via internet or telephone.
