I have a Boxch 3725DEVS random orbit sander with the dust canister. Would like to find a fitting so I could use my shop vac to hook to it. Suppose the hose is a pain to deal with when sanding, but certainly would be a lot cleaner. Was thinking of building a box for the dust collector and sanding on that, but thought this might be simple, and take up less space. Jim

Bosch RS006 will do the trick. http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Adapter-Various-Sanders-RS006/dp/B0009H5L5I/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1209265160&sr=8-1

Once you've used the sander with a vacuum you won't want to sand without it. I use it with a Festool CT-22 that allows you to turn down the vacuum when sanding. If you can't turn down the vacuum you may need to reduce the vacuum by some other means (using a Y?) othersise the vacuum sucks the sander down too much and it will bounce around.

I use the adapter that was suggested and hook the sander up to a little Stinger shop vac. It's not too powerful so it doesn't cause the problems that Greg mentioned. I did have to hollow out the inside of the Stinger hose to make it fit over the adapter. Once I did that it worked like a charm.

I use the same adapter. I also bought the airsweep adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Airsweep-Vacuum-Adapter-VAC002/dp/B0000AV77K/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_text_b)as I wasn't sure what I was going to need. Never did need it. I use a cuff (http://totalvac.com/accessory/parts/VT2505.html) with an adjustment collar that allows you to reduce the vacuum suction. This cuff goes between the 2-1/4" hose and the 1-1/4" hose.

I also just Velcro the power cord along the small hose. An extension cord Velcro'd to the large hose leads to a switchbox (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=17351&filter=i%20socket) that turns the vac on when the sander is power up. My big Ridgid will slow down the ROS on full power but, once quickly dialed in it draws in all the dust and then some.

I use that adapter on my Bosch ROS. It is amazing, but no dust escapes when I use that. The deal is that without a vacuum attachment, sanding dust escapes from the edge of the sanding pad. With the vacuum attachment it doesn't.

The only thing is that it slows down the sander a bit if you have a strong shop vac. Mine won't start at speeds of less than 4 (out of 6) because my vac is so strong it sucks the sander down to the workpiece pretty tightly.

Also, you don't have the same freedom of movement with it because you're wrangling the hose out of the way, which is much more cumbersome than the cord of your sander.
