I thought I should quit lurking in the shadows and introduce myself.
I'm a 28 year old aspiring Neander that hopes to someday muster enough skill to make furniture as nice as some of the stuff I see on SMC. I'm essentially a complete newbie to woodworking and am finding my "path" with hand tools. I was quick to go out and buy a host of electron-consuming woodworking equipment, but I'm finding that I learn a lot more about how to manipulate wood using planes, chisels, hand saws, and scrapers. I'm also finding that you can sneak up on "whoops" moments rather than have them manifest themselves in a blink of the eye with an electric motor spinning at 3600 rev/min.
I've bought and "rehabbed" several Bailey planes with the knowledege and advice gained from this site. Its great to see help and advice freely given out among this community. Thanks!
