This is my fifth attempt at a segmented bowl. The first two were disasters. The second and third were OK as learning experiences. This one is Oak flooring from an old theater. It is 24 segments, 7" diameter, 2.5" tall. It started with another ring that had paduke inserts but I turned it too thin and ended up parting it off. The finish is Linseed Oil and Mylands. It was so much fun, I started the rings on the next one before I finished this one!

Well, I thought I had the picture. I will keep trying.

Welcome to the forum.

Segmenting will do that to you.

OK, I think I got it this time. I resized it smaller.

Mark, you mentioned the magic word FUN. Keep having fun and you'll be amazed at how quickly you advance in the world of "segmented turning". Nice job using recycled wood.

Mark - Welcome to the Creek! I like the form of your bowl! Good looking wood and finish! Looking forward to seeing what your next 'ring' turns out to be!

Thanks for the comments. My first "regular" bowl was an addiction several years ago. This is even worse. I've looked at alot of segmented bowls (some of them belonged to some of you!) and wondered if I could do as well. Thanks for your comments and anything you think I need to do the improve, don't hesitate to say it.

Very nice bowl Mark. I see that the bottom is segmented also, as opposed to a solid disk. You are ahead of the curve if you can do that!

Nice bowl. Love the shape. There are far worse addictions to have than gluing together bits of wood and working wonders with them. Keep at it!
