O.K. I know that this sounds like a dumb question but is there any reason to let a bowl that is turned out of seasoned wood dry for a period of time, either with DNA or air? is there a point at which if it has been seasoned that it is dry enough to just finish turn without worrying about warping/cracking?
thanks for not laughing too hard when you respond

i would let it sit for a day or 2 just to be safe. no need for dna, but you never know how much moisture the peice has absorbed from the air, or if there is any pressure in the wood, let it sit for a day or 2 then go and finish it, unless you dont mind if it warps a little

Wood will always reach equilibrium with the surroundings. If the stock was fully dry to match the surroundings it still will be when done.

If you move it from your place to another place that is substantially more dry or wet it will acclimate to the new surroundings and either swell or shrink depending on which way it is moving.

Nothing will keep wood from trying to reach equilibrium. The best you can hope for is to slow it down.
