Boy do I enjoy making these? I found a leaf in the bush house that had all the soft tissue rotted away and all that was left was the ribs. "Nice pattern", I thought. Down to the lathe to play and this is what resulted. This one is about 210mm high and 95mm diameter. Again the timber is privet, the notorious weed, but nice to work. This time I lost my nerve and left it 2mm thick. The pattern was cut with a dremel tool fitted with a dentist's burr, and took nearly two days to create.

Jim - That's a great stunning bit of work, I love the delicate nature with the piercing and the form, It must have taken a lot of patience to complete this project, thanks for posting and look forward to seeing more in the future.

Great job Jim. I always like when a great turning is taken to the next level and ends up outstanding like this.

Thanks for the nice comments, they are appreciated. The primary reason for posting is, hopefully, to help raise the bar with new ideas. Are there no lady turners over there? Or is this a blokes club only? :)

Jim

I like your idea so much that I think that I will steal it. I do demo's for Dremel and this would make a great item to work on while I am in the stores doing the demos.
