I’ve been away from the lathe for the past few weeks due to Dupuytrens-contracture surgery on my right hand. The surgery went well and I’m pretty much healed so the last couple days were spent working on this little vase. It's great to be back in the saddle again.:D 8” tall, 5.25” Dia. Cherry, black alowood, maple and padauk. It’s very similar to the last one I did but the rings of cherry are only ½” thick on this one.
Comments and critiques welcome.

I am impressed with the form Mike - love it! Great use color in your design! Really like the size and the way you highlighted the lip! Very nice work!

Overall it is nice, but the curvature at the feature ring appears to be a little flat so it detracts from the overall form.

Thanks for all your kind words. I gave the vase to my neighbor who gave me the scraps of cherry and other types of wood. She works at a local cabinet shop and brought over a box of their scraps (my gold, free wood goooood!:D). She eemed to like it a lot. Hope it will encourage her to deliver more scraps.;)

If I wasn't told that it was a turning, I would think it was a piece of SW pottery. Nice work. If you study pottery much, (and you should). Forms of differant Potters vary individually. I suppose in a perfect world that there is some exact shape that type vase should be, but then, where is the art?
