Got this piece of cocobolo for Christmas and waited till now to tackle it. Didn't want to mess up a good piece of wood. Didn't show any allergic reaction at all, though I took precautions such as using a dust mask, long sleeve shirt and showering immediately afterwards. It's 5 3/4's" wide x 3 5/8's" high and was done on the Jet Mini using the fantastic Mini-Monster Hollowing System and buffed on the Beall afterwards. The inside was sanded and finished with poly. If I had it to do again I would have left the bottom narrower as it first was. It had a rough spot on the bottom and I parted it off - not smart. It was photographed on my dining room table and the chandeleur reflects on the bowl. So how many years does it take before a guy does a HF he's completely happy with?

Good looking hollow form Bill! Beautiful wood and finish!

How long does it take to turn a hollow form you are completely happy with? Don't know for sure as I have only been turning them for a little over a year but I do have a couple of them that I think are OK! You need to ask some guys who are seriously good - guys like Travis Stinson, Keith Burns, Neil Addy, Mark Cothren, Ernie Nyvall, Jim Ketron, Mike Fuson, Shane Whitlock and a number of others right here on Sawmill!

If I turned a HF that was that nice, I'd be happy! :) But then, I'd have to actually turn a HF. Someday I will, but not sure when.
