I was given the saw by a neighbor who has since passed on and would like to get it in working order. My problom is that I do not know a whole lot about motors and am not sure if this is 3 Phase. Jack had said this was his FIL's and that he used it at the house. The plug on the cord has one U shaped prong and two rectangular prongs one vertical and one horizontal, this plug is obviously not OEM so I do not know what came on it. Sorry to be so wordy but am trying to determine if this is 3 Phase. What confuses me is the motor data plata which reads as follows:
H/P 3/4 Amps 2
Rpm 3425 PH 3
Volts 220
Cycle 60 Frame 176
Winding A53M75K
T.Rating Cont.
Temp Rise 40

I had assummed that PH3 meant 3 phase, however the 220 volt label leaves me confused I thought 3 phase would be 440 ,can someone enlighten me? as always I appreciate the groups halp and direction.

Vernon,
It sure looks like it is 3-phase power. 220V 3-phase is very common for industrial machines. You would probably be best off replacing the motor with one that runs on 220V single phase, especially since it is only a 3/4 hp motor.

Good luck,
Dick
