I got an order for 42 engraved wine flutes and after using up the usual sources (and only getting 23) I remembered that someone had said DOLLAR TREE would send them to a store near you if you called with the stock number. When I went to the DOLLAR TREE site I found they now have an online order feature. Slick as not, I ordered the 4 dozen and they will arrive in a week (only problem, have to deliver in 10 days, so some late nights or a very long day).

I use Instawares.com to supply the glasses I engrave as corporate premiums.

The rotary tool is a tricky piece of equipment in my experience.
Here's something I learned, some glasses run through Epilog's rotary engraver better than others, it has to do with the symmetry and balance of the glass itself. The rotary device is a lot more sensitive to these issues with lightweight, tapered glasses than it is to cylindrical heavy objects like wine bottles and flashlights. It can be a very frustrating experience, so make note of the glasses that work well for future reference, save a headache and rejects.

If you have a rush job you want to be working with glasses you know run through the machine reliably.

I use Marck Glass - they seem to have the best price with great quality.

I tried the Dollar store, but you really have to watch the lip of the glass. If the edge even slightly touches the rotator edge, it can cause bad results. Also - excess water on the wheels allows for some slippage - these things are light.

I think it was Frank that said he places marbles or steel bearings inside the glass to help keep positive weight against the rollers... :confused:

I've been using Libby brand. You can order on line or you can find some of them at Target. So far so good.

If you only need a few like 40-50 or so, I usually hit the dollar stores. We have a half a dozen 'Dollarama' stores with-in a 15 mile radius, they all carry the same stock, and cheap Chinese glass etches very well.. My main glass wholesaler has a minimum order of $500.00 (KIG glass) and my standby has a minimum of $100.00 (libby and Arcorock) I also buy from a trade supplier if I don't need enough for a wholesale order. It's a 'little' more expensive per piece, but I don't have to store a bunch of glass I don't need right away..

Try IKEA, most glasses are about a dollar a piece.

One cautionary note George. Not all flutes or wine glasses are the same. You probably already know that but the reason for my post is in case you expect repeat orders the customer will expect the same product. So... choose a supplier that can provide the same glass for the next order. Personally I use Libbey and get from their outlet store.
