I will soon be bulding two large (4' x 7-1/2') carriage style doors for the entrance to my shop. I am looking for long (24+") strap hinges. Would appreciate any recomended sources.

I've bought hinges around 30" from www.hardwaresource.com (http://www.hardwaresource.com)

I just bought these hinges for my gate: http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_ViewProducts.asp?Cat=777
The price is surprisingly reasonable but I think I know why now that I have them: they aren't terribly precise (loose tolerance)!
Depending upon "luck of the draw", you may get a j-bolt that fits with a lot of slop and so through it's swing, it won't stay plumb. Lucky for me, I don't need my gate to swing 180 degrees so I was able to shim and adjust the mounting to get the j-bolt to swing perfectly plumb and level from 0-90 degrees.
However, these are beefy, beefy hinges and I like how they will be hidden within the wood so that is why I got them.
