Since I got my Lindow/White rose engine up and running a couple weeks ago, I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of materials, shapes and designs…here’s the latest. This pink ivory mirror is about 5" across and is held from the back rather than like a lollypop or from the edge. Let me know what you think.

Very nice work Ed! Ornate but not overly so. Reminds me of some of the elegant pieces from the mid 1800s. Interesting handle location and design! Again - very nice work!

Great idea. Beautiful execution.

Now the sixty four thousand dollar question - Can I steal you design idea? :D

Thanks for all the comments...

Toney,

I'm sure this has been done before...feel free to use the "hold-behind" :-) design in any way you choose.

how well does pink ivory turn?

Curtis,

Pink Ivory is a very tight grained wood that turns a lot like African Blackwood...it's like machining metal in that extreme detail can be put into the design. One of my favorites.

Here's another backend-hold hand mirror...in Yellowheart.
