Powermatic 208 planer 20 inch (with pic now)

Anyone here have one. I googled here and the model on internet. I guess they have the 209 now.
I may have the oppurtunity to buy one today for 1150.00 with maybe 2 hours on it or even new.
The 3 reviews I could find on it werent great. Chatter, infeed outfeed bent under 250lbs of weight.
The chatter review was by a member here Mark Angle.
I was going to buy the grizzly but this one would save me 400 or so. If its not that great I dont want it. Looks like the 209 might have forgon the rollers for infeed an now has a solid table.

Sorry not a real match, but I have a 209 ... no issues, runs nearly flawlessly... had to make a number of adjustments to make it happen, but happy now that I have it 'tuned'.

I have an older PM15 and I consider the infeed/outfeed rollers as the weakest part of the design. They are very difficult to get set properly and they will flex/move if you hit them too hard with the stock. Had the S15 been around at the time, I wouldn’t have even considered the one I have. Other than the rollers, the PM15 has been a great planner.

The guy finally came back to me today. He wants 1150, he says new it was 2150 but I just read a post on here from 2005 saying it was 1600 pus shipping new.
So you think 1000 is a good offer? Its supposeldy been used never or once or twice. I will see it in 2 hours.

Sweet machine. I talked him down to 1k. Thats a fair price. A board has never been sent through it. Comes with mobile base. I may pick up on tuesday.
He has a 24 inch Powermatic Bandsaw there.That thing is huge. Also a nice Jet 3phase Shaper with tilting table and power feeder attached to it. He was going to get into woodworking but ddnt,hes had them for a few years. He said he sold a 14 inch Powermatic TS, I wonder how much blades cost for that.

No regrets. Only thing is space.I wish I could leave it wheeled out and hooked up to dc all the time.
I set up the infeed and outfeed rollers once and I get no snipe. It hogs wood like I didnt expect. Its much quieter than the ridgid I have (selling wed), sounds like a big jointer running. Nice clean cuts. Variable speed.
One thing I dont like about the 208 and not sure if 209 is the same way but the hood for DC sticks straight out over outfeed table.So if your planing 3/4 stick the hood is maybe 1 inch off the rollers an its wide, it does taper but it seems like it should of been made different. I.E. More of an upward angle.
I have used for one wide stock piece 16 inch cutting board. Worked great.

The problem with your DC chute is common to a lot of the older planers. The I have more vertical clearance my Delta 20" chute sticks straight out over the outfeed table. I am going to make a new chute that directs the dust/chips to the side.
