Locally someone is selling a 60 gal, sanborn upright single stage air compressor ,220 v.,6.5 hp.13.7 cfm at 40 and 11.5 cfm at 90 psi.

I currently have a NOISY Coleman oil-less, 25 gal., 5.7 cfm at 90. I'm looking to reduce the noise and get something to keep up with my HVLP gun.

Any experience with this compressor appreciated.

Hi Mike,

I have a neighbor that has one of those and just last night
he called and wanted me to look up some parts.

Seems that there is an unload valve that is leaking on his
and after doing some research it seems that Coleman has
bought out Sanborn back in 94 and they are not the
owner of all of what used to be Sanborn.

We could not find anything on the Coleman powermate
website but we did find a place in Va that seems to
have all of the parts for those and about anything else
you might need.

As to how good the compressor is his wife has an
upholstery business and they use it for their air
staplers and nailers and pretty much run it every day
5 days a week and it has been doing that he said for
almost 5 years and this is the first time anything
has come up on it.

I would say based on that it might be a pretty good
unit.

Don't know if this helps but hope so.

I don't have that model, but I've got a 20 gal 5hp 220v. It's a serious workhorse. We used it when building a house several years ago, and it had no problem at all keeping up with 4 framing nailers at one time. Once, we had 5 roofing nailers going at once using multiple tee's on the air lines, and it just kept right up. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My Sanborn 5hp 80 gal has worked five days a week since 1984. Other than that, I don't have anything good to say about it.

thnx, jack vines

I have a Sanborn 5HP/ 230Volt 60 gallon unit at my home. It is probably about 15 years old ( i bought it used ten years ago). It has an aluminum compressor painted black. It has never given me any problems.
