I am using a 1 1/2" Spade bit to drill holes through doubled up 1 by Douglas Fir (1 1/2" total thickness) . Drilled almost 100 holes successfully then suddenly the drill press started to bind up under very light pressure .
I changed to a new bit , checked belt tension , verified i was using a reasonable speed . The problem is that the pulleys (3) and belts (2) move but the bit , chuck and everthing north of them up to the front pulley don,t .

What's up ?????

To be clear everthing spins as it should together until a little pressure is applied . Does that change your answer ?

If this info doesn't change your answer how do i access the pin .
My thoughts would be from the top by removing the belts, pulleys, pulley
covers and dive in further . Correct ?
