Anybody done it yet? do you have any pics? The laminate seems like it would be an issue cutting out and routing in the recess for the plate.

I will be picking up a SS with 52" rip in about a week, and i plan to put one in so i was just curious if anyone else had done it yet.

Thanks!
Nick

The extension table is only 3/4" thick, so unless you rebuild the box frame beneath it, it will sag. I would make a template and use a template guide and a down-cut spiral bit to get a chip-free cut in the laminate.

I put one in my sawstop about a year ago. I used 3/4 melamine from Lowes. I pocket screwed a plywood frame underneith to attach it to the rails and keep it from sagging. So far so good.

I just finished setting-up my SawStop this evening! I bought 36" rails but no table. I made a 30" x 20" table from 1" MDF banded on the sides with oak, and then Formica laminated to the top and bottom. I made, by welding, two 1.5" X 1.5" x 1/8" angle iron rails that run front to back (30" direction) that attach to the SawStop front and back rail. The table, with router lift, sits on top of these angle iron rails.

Hi Nick, I set my Sawstop up about 1 year ago and used the extension to insert a router. You definately have to reinforce it. Here are a couple of pics.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/expressm/DSC00375.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/expressm/DSC00371.jpg

Not to dig up an old thread, but Brian, could you take a picture underneath your left router table. I would like to see how you mounted it, and how you mounted the switch box.
Thanks.
