Hi all I'm looking for the best price I can get on Acrylic awards. I do a lot of work for local Churches and most of what I do is for free. I am just getting it to laser engraving and I would like to and Acrylics to the list of products. I have been buying for laserbits, can anyone point me to better prices.

Thanks

Wlecome to the world of laser engraving. Do a google search if you haven't already. I would recommend checking back here frequently and also doing a search here for acrylic awards. I don't do many acrylic awards myself, but I do have some acrylic I had purchased thru Delvies Plastics of varying thicknesses that I use to fabricate my own designs - very simple designs of course. Good luck on your search and God bless you for supporting your church.

Acrylic Idea Factory; http://www.aifcatalog.com/ and JDS; www.jdsindustries.com (http://www.jdsindustries.com) are my two main suppliers of acrylic. But if you're looking for lowest cost possible, call Huang Acrylic @ 800-221-1259. They have a website, but it sucks. Ask for both their general and awards catalog. You'll find several acrylic awards in the $5.00 range.

I forgot that JDS has economical acrylic pop in awards. you pay under $4.00 per blank in cases of 40 and only a buck for the base.

Our laser is due next week but we are already being asked to bid awards. I did a search and came up with this thread...

Any pointers on pricing plaques and awards just shooting from the hip? I know it depends on laser time etc... but a good rule of thumb just so we can be in the ballpark would be great!

Also, I remember reading in a post when researching lasers about a source for inexpensive imitation wood plaques at a reasonable price by the case (4x6 I think is what the post was for). Does anyone remember the sourcing?

Thanks all in advance!

Jim,

A ballpark number would be to triple (3x) your material cost plus your laser time. On the low end, people are at $1.00 per minute and others are around $2.00 per minute, give or take.

That should get you started. It's at least a good sanity check.
