Walnut to dark?

I'm guessing that walnut is to dark to laser and get a clear nice cut, is this true?

I believe more walnut plaques have been laser engraved than all others combined. The trick is to use a black color fill such as liquid shoe polish or some other cheap and easy to apply fill. The walnut does not bleed like light colored woods so you can use this to get a decent contrast.

Walnut also turns lighter in color as it ages.
