This little Cherry lidded box is 3 1/2"X3". Finished with mineral oil and buffed. I call it a capital box because the lid reminds me of the US Capital building dome. The spalted maple box is about the same size and the wood is from my neighbors firewood pile. I found it odd that he has all kinds of maple (he's on the north side of the hill) and I don't have one maple tree. I'm on the south side of that hill. We both have about 6 acres of woods. Completly different what is growing on one side of the hill versus the other! The maple box is for his wife and an oversize popcorn bowl of the same wood is waiting to be finish turned for him. Just a thanks for the score...Bill...

Very nice work William! I like both of the boxes - especially the subtle detail work on each. Very nice touch!

Both are AWSOME looking Bill.

Love the deep rich color of the Cherry and the Spalting of the Maple is really nice.

Do my eyes decieve me or is there some kind of design or texturing done on the bottom detail on both? If so could you explain it please.

Good catch Scott! I textured the small bead at the bottom with a Dremel tool. The embellishment seems to add to the piece just a bit...Bill...

They're both great. I love the cherry ones form, and the little finial on the spalted one is great. Good work!
