I wish people would not use so many abbreviations in their posts, some of us have problems deciphering them. Not all of us are expert shop people.

top level assembly?

:)

Harry - good point. It's taken me a long time to get used to all of them. You guilted me into going and editing my most recent post to get rid of all the abbeviations. :)

Do a search here on SMC if ya really wanna know what BLO, TS, CMS, RT, M&T are... there's a list of all the SMC versions of the anacronyms.
There are more anacronyms here than in the military.:D
I used to have a rough go with some of them at first but after awhile they sunk in my thick skull. If ya figure the # of members and posts etc, keeping long posts (like mine ) short saves brain space.

Cheers.
Greg

I can't find it now, but I thought I've seen a list (long) of abbreviations used. Maybe I'm thinking of another site. Anyway, I usually figure them out, but I've never understood DAHMKIT. What's that one?

Try this SMC thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=78002&highlight=acronym) which has a list of acronyms.

Thanks Rob for that link... LOML has been driving me crazy. I thought it had something to do with a Mother in Law...

Google is your friend (when you get the speling rite).

FWIW, Acronyms are never going away, sink or swim I guess. Stick to it and it usually 'sinks' in.

My favorite is TWAIN which is an acronym for "Technology Without An Interesting Name".
Then there's ICBIAA... "I Can't Believe It...Another Acronym"

Yes, Chris got it right -- Three Letter Acronyms. I am in the computer field and we use so many TLAs that we created one for "Three Letter Acronyms."

With 34 years in the aviation industry we would write whole paragraphs with TLAs

We all have to remember that not everyone is an avid woodworker and may only visit this site from time to time to gain knowledge in woodworking. We could only help advance the craft of woodworking if we would be a little more clear in our answer. The proper way is to spell it out with the first use, then abbreviations later could be understood.

Speaking of acronyms, has anyone noticed that Stanley trademarked the military-man's Favorite Unanimous Big Acronym Recently? I saw it in the HD add last week. Is nothing sacred?
