View Full Version : Cedar Blanket Chest

I made this for my future DIL. It's Eastern Red Cedar that I had milled from some logs a friend gave me off his place. He was clearing out for a barn and offered them to me for free. This is the last of the stock and it's about two years old...air dried.

It's loosely based on Norm's version from the NYW. I tweaked the dimensions to match the stock I had and added some embellishments like the coved bracket feet, trim and molding.

Finish is BLO followed by Zinsser seal coat from a rattle can and then about 6 coats of Target USL sprayed on with a Wagner HVLP conversion gun.

This is my first flatwork posting at SMC so y'all don't be too harsh. ;)

Very nice job. You should be able to store a lot of blankets in there without any problems from moths.

I'd just tell her to leave the blankets out so she can show off the craftsmanship to everyone:D
