This weekend I was resawing some approximately 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 22" long hard maple. The 3/4" material was straight and flat. After I ran it through the saw it came out bowed.

I was having some problem with the material burning as I ran it through the table saw. Did the heat from the burning cause the maple to bow?

This is not all that uncommon. When you "split" stock, there can be a moisture imbalance between the "inside" and "outside" faces. Or, there might be internal stresses that are "released" when the wood is resawn. Either can cause the wood to bow. The burning could be caused by fence misalignment, a dull blade, the "wrong" blade (ripping with a crosscutting blade) or by the wood "pinching" the blade as the previously mentioned internal stresses are released.

Sage advice has been given By Dav, Yosh... err the other guy who replied first, and no more need be added.
Ripping on a TS isn't much fun either... especially with maple as the burn seems to penetrate nice & deep... DAMKHIT.
