My son asked me to make him a display case for one of his soccer balls. He wants it to be a five-sided, glass cube, with a base to sit on. I've seen examples of how people bring three sticks together at a corner, like the attachment below, but I can't for the life of me remember how it's done.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Take a look at this. It was in one of the latest issues of Fine Woodworking. http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/SkillsAndTechniques/SkillsAndTechniquesPDF.aspx?id=2905

If memory serves me, March issues of Wood Magazine also showed how to cut a 3-way miter.

Keith,
All three board must have the same square cross-section. For each of the three ends to be joined, cut a 45 mitre, rotate 90 degrees and cut another 45. The trick is reinforcing the joint (e.g., with screws, dowels, biscuits or loose tenons).
