Bowl made on the new lathe

Hi

Made this little bowl in the weekend. I think the name of the wood is "laburnum", but I'm not sure if this is the right English name for it.
I love the wood, but the dust is not very healthy though.

Sanded to 600, and polished with natural bees wax... gives a nice smell in the workshop.

The little knot went orbiting in the workshop, despite plenty of super glue.

The bowl is 5.5" in diamter, and 2" high.

Kaj, I don't know where you are, but from what I have read on the forums, especially from the Brits, everything about Laburnum is poisonous. Wood, bark, leaves, etc. Make sure you are wearing appropriated protective gear.

I'm from Denmark... the other side of the little pond.
I know that it is poisonous... all of it.
But the must poisonous thing is the fruit. Looks a little like a pea shell.
Many kids have been in hospital for eating it. The tree is not that common anymore.

Must dig in to my stack of "guldregn" Laburnum... Loosely translated GULDRENG is the danish name and would translate to Golden Rain i English... Hard as rock, very toxic and soooo beautiful..
