Does anyone here know of a source for the round carbide cutters like the ones used on the Hunter tools?
I've been making a few of my own turning tools lately & would like to try to make a few with a round carbide cutter.
I'd like to find a Cheaper source than buying the actual Hunter cutters.
Being on the tight budget that I'm on. I'd think some one out ther some where has to sell them. I figured Hunter has to buy them from some one else too.
So anyone know where I could look?
Thanks Joe

The only place I have found them other than the hunter site is woodcraft. Still about $20 though...Bill...

I bought one from KBC - Carbide insert (1-2655-045 non- coated) KBC# SS312-MTC20. IT is made for aluminum but has a finer edge than the steel cutting inserts.
They are online @ http://www.kbctools.com/can/main.cfm
Not a lot cheaper, I tihnk it was around $13, but that was in Canada.
Seems to work OK. Haven't done a lot with it though.
Hope that helps.

You can buy carbide cutters from Enco for a couple of dollars.

I guess I just don't get it. I don't understand the Code for Carbide Inserts. looked at several sites & all the inserts go by a code #.
What I'm looking for is a 1/2" dia dished out top round Carbide insert cutter. can anyone tell me What the Code # would be for this?
Thanks Joe
