My pool pump (a 1HP Sta-Rite) has started to whine and get hot. I'm sure it's a bearing, either in the motor or pump itself. Anyone know if these are sealed or can I get at it and lube it up? Need a game plan before I go ripping it apart!

Done, went ahead and replaced the motor only, plus some seals. $220 later and it works fine. Now I have to replace a solar heater panel and just dropped another $200 on the wife's radiator fan. Spring sucks! The fan was DIY (as was the pool motor!), the mechanic wanted 1.5 hrs of labor for a 10-min job! 5 bolts and one plug. Ridiculous.

One of the advantages of Florida! But then it's hot and muggy most of the year so it averages out! Still too cold to swim over the winter, but if my house was oriented better and I had more solar panels, you could probably swim all year!

I've got to drain mine and put a new liner in it. And I could be in the shop making dust :)....
