A friend who retired from the lumber yard business gave me a piece of heart pine a while back, 3" thick, 15' long. I have stored it in my shop waiting for inspiration as to what to do with it. Every time I'm between projects I study that piece of wood, hoping for inspiration. So far, nothing has come to me. I really want to build something with it, but I don't want to build just anything with it. Know what I mean?

I routinely build chests, dressers, tables, bookcases, liturgical pieces and the like. So the field is wide open.

Any thoughts out there?

How wide is it?

That missing third dimension is critical. I have a pile of SA mahogany 3" X 15' in my garage, hundreds of boards actually, course the third dimension is between 1/2"-1 1/4", and they are all bowed beyond reason. I will be using them for lattice.

So 3" X ? X 15'...

Sorry about the missing dimension. It ranges from 10" to 12" wide.

Hello,
No question on my part what I'd use it for.
I'd make a fireplace mantel with it.

I'd likely build some form of bench with it.

"I'd likely build some form of bench with it."

Yes... This is a workbench top waiting to happen!
