Got home last night to find the green house furnace quit. (Temp -25)
Some but not all plants frozen.
Opened doors to GH and started pumping in heat from the family room.
House temp drops to 15.
Called plumber and he will come in an hour as he has to have supper.
Plumber comes, takes motor off and does not have a replacment.
He is comming back this morning (I hope)
Now doors in bedroom and family room are opened into the GH and 3 heaters from garage employed. Linda trots off to sleep in spare bedroom.
Dog gets up for a dump, can't wake me or find Linda and drops his load in the hall in front of the bathroom door.
I had no problem finding his deed.!!!! Grrrr!!
Temperature continues to drop outside - It is now -34.
Wind is supposed to pick up this AM.

p.s. The paper I used to pick up after the dog mess got stuck in the toilet and it overflowed.
Stupid Bob is now washing the bathroom floor.

I think I would call every plummer in town and the first one to show up with the right motor is the one who gets paid. Can't help with the dog tho.

Dr. Bob,

After a post like that, I hope you can look back and LAUGH. I confess. I sure did, but only because I have had similar days. We're laughing WITH you. Really.

Thanks Fellas!

I tossed this episode out this morning to help make the rest of you feel good.

I will survive and it did not kill me so....

Have a great day!

p.s. I will be seeding tomatoes and peppers Sunday morning.

Be thankful,
You have a house, a greenhouse, some heat, a wife, and a dog that loves you.

Could be alot worse:D

Why don't you have a back up wood stove for heat in the green house?

Hi Malcom:

The greenhouse is attached to my house and has access from the family room and the bedroom via patio doors.
I had thought that in the event of a furnace outage that opening the two doors to the main house would suffice.
As luck would have it, the temperature plumetted last night to -34 celcius making all efforts to use any extra heat quite a challenge.
I am going to look at a kerosene heater this week.
I never hurts to have one anyway.
I don't have enough room for a permanent wood stove in this small space. (12 x 24 feet)

Regards

Bob

I know what you mean about that terrible weather. We've been in the mid 70's this weekend. I don't know how we stand it here. :D

Mr. Barlow spoke too soon, today it's only in the mid sixties. Got to drag the coats and boots out again.......

I hesitate to reply at this juncture.
You see the temperature remains stubbornly below -15 and it has now snowed about 3 inches since I came in to work this AM.
