This took more than 1 weekend, also made two night stands, men's dresser and now making the matching bed frame.

mmm... beer

The difference in wood color, different finish/wood? Can't really tell.

Great job on the dresser. Make sure to post the pictures when you get the headboard done.

I LOVE that grain. Is it Ash or Oak?

Nice job. How many weekends DID it take you, out of curiosity?

The dresser is solid Red Oak, solid Oak glued sides and top, Oak plywood back and mitre-locked Poplar drawers. The vertical pieces and dresser top are stained with, I believe, Early American and the horizontal pieces are simply polyurethaned, no stain. Their are different colors, even in the non-stained areas, however, different boards have different colors and I really wasn't trying to match them. I work with a limited cheap supply of Red Oak.

As far as how many weekends, I really don't know, not many, I've built 4 or 5 now, and they go pretty fast, I'm guessing 25 hours or less.

Very nice, I like the style. The beauty of the wood grain makes the piece. Are the drawers on wood rail guides, or do you have guides on them? And you just have the drawer faces bottom out on a stop on the rail to get set them even with the face frame?

If you can do that in a weekend (or even a couple of weekends) I'd like to offer you a job.....

Simply beautiful. Don't let Nathan (http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=81181) see it. :)

Alex, I used single bottom slides on the drawers and the fronts are false, they are oak fastened to the poplar drawer carcasses, alignment isn't difficult, I have a way that I discovered that makes it very easy to align flush drawers.

I agree!!:D

When you're all done I'd like to see pictures of all the pieces (I need all the inspiration I can get to try this myself).

That's a very well made project displaying some excellent craftsmanship. It would take me the 25 hours just to get the design work done and wood selected.;) Perhaps that's an exaggeration, but I know it would take me much longer than 25 hours.:o

Don, it help when you have built several of the same things. My first one took longer, now I'm "in the groove" so to speak. The legs take the most time, stop dados, and stop rabits are the hardest part.
