i read on a ww forum, maybe this one about rust removal using citric acid to remove rust. my interest was peeked as i bought a pm 6" jointer and 15" planer both of which had rust problems. since i didn't have citric acid on hand but did have vitamin c or ascorbic acid i thought what the heck i' ll give it a try. well to my surprise it worked. i filled a plastic tub with warm water and added the vit c and let it sit for 24 hrs. with no effort on my part a wipe of the parts eliminted the rust. here's some pics
