wixey on larger planers

Has anyone installed a wixey digital readout on their planer? If so, You have any tips? Thinking of getting one and documenting the process if not.

Michael... if you look at Wixeys websight, in the Gallery, you will be able to see many stationary planers with the Digital Planer Gauge. Take a look at this thread for an alternative method;

I emailed Barry Wixey about travel greater than 6". He indicated the travel is actually 6 3/16" but that's still no really enough for the Jointer/Planers; the planer table has to lower enough to to swing the dust hood, or at least the Jet J/P does. He also indicated that a DRO with 12" of travel is in the works and may be available by the end of the year. 12" would work just fine and I'll cut it to length.
