I'm a hunter, fisherman and still a newbe wood turner. (not necessarily in that order) So here a couple of my first Turkey calls I've made. First one is cocobola with a tru oil finish, 2 spalted maple (that I rescued from the dump)with a laquer finish, 3 zebrawood finished with wipe on poly. All have a slate on the other side for making a turkey sound.

Those really look nice. Do you cut the slate for those or do you buy it pre-cut?

They all look good. I don't know much, but don't you need something called a "striker"???? and do you turn those too?

I buy my own slate already cut to any size round from 2 1/2" to 3 1/2".
As far as strikers to make the sound I have turned over 100 of them. So when the people buy a call they can pick out what striker feels and sounds good for them.

Nice calls, Les. Hope they work for you this spring. I've got the second season in Wisconsin this year.:D

Those are real nice. I was wishing I had made my own as I pestered some toms this evening... unfortunately I was hunting yesterday and saw nada, then while on a walk with the wife this evening I get 3 birds to play... grumble...none came within range, but it sure was fun :)
