I am refurbishing a 40 year old teak rocking chair. It was literally coming apart at all the glue joints and the finish had faded and was splotchy. So far I have disassembled the chair and sanded to bare wood through 150 grit. I have cleaned the dowels and sockets as well as possible without removing material.

What I need to know is what glue to use, and what kind of finish to use. The original finish was a dark walnut color. Lighter would be ok but the wood has several dark streaks which would become unattractive if too light a finish were used.

Slow epoxy. System3 T88 is good.

From my boating days Teak Wood= Teak Oil
If it is in the weather I would use Spar Varnish after an oil finish like teak oil has dried..

For glue the T-88 or Type III glue should be fine if all old glue is removed ..

Thanks for the info. Now that I know what to buy, I'll head out to the Woodcraft store!
