Does anyone have any experience with this new faceshield? How does it fit, is it heavy, and most of all is it worth $299.99?

These products all fit differently and unfortunatly it is usualy a month or more into the use of the device that you discover that you don't much care for it.

Is the Trend airshield worht $300? Yes it is easly worth that much if it is the one that you will wear.

Triton Powered Portable Respirator is another which has some advantages:

Flip up visor (you don't have to take the thing off to have a drink of soda or scratch an itch).

Built in ear protection.

Disadvantage: More effort to put on. None of these are devices that you put on for 2 minutes and then remove for 10 minutes. They are designed to be put on and kept on for a while.

Those advantages aren't worth a nickel if you find that you aren't wearing it.

One source of the Triton is:

Don before you buy, take a look at this site. Looks like a better deal. :D

(edit: I forgot to mention that I saw this site on a woodturning forum and a couple of the guys said this is the best tool they ever bought, and this was the best price they have seen on it.)

Don i dont know about that specific one but i have the 3M version and love it works great and even filters out some of the smell like when i drill the antler for pen blanks. It is fairly light i dont even notice after i get started. I picked mine up at the local Woodcraft store on the reduced rack for $150 so i figured i couldnt go too wrong , it looked like it had been ever so slightly used like someone bought it and tryed it for a few minutes didnt like it and returned it. Did i tell you that i love it? Bud

The latest WOOD Mag has a review (I think that was the one I read Jim B can straighten me out on it) The found that the Triton to be the only one suitable for turning all the other were for all around the shop. They also found that the Triton hose was a bit stiff so when you tilted your head back it would push the unit forward on your head. Triton apparently is going to change out the hose. I too have been researching these and I have been leaning towards the Triton. Best of luck in your decision.
