It's been snowing hard now for about 5 hours, right at 32 most of that time and just now starting to stick at 1:30pm. Odd to see all this snow falling with blossoms on the trees.

No snow here but it's been a cold winter and a cool spring. I'm ready for it to warm up!

We had about 4-5" this morning which means we've had about 15" in the last week. I drove home in it last night--very nasty conditions.

Is that normal for you? Here it's not, in 15 years here I remember one light dusting one day in early April but it's been below freezing at night all week.

No, way above average for March. This makes something like 70" for the winter which is the snowiest winter on record and 21" for March making it the snowiest since 1954. Luckily global warming is in effect and today's is already 1/2 gone. Last Friday night's was gone by Tuesday other than piles and some of the biggest drifts. But our road crews are virtually out of salt. Some of the smaller municipalities can only salt selected areas. And they've all restocked at least once more than planned.

Joe, I don't think I would be wanting to stop at that stop sign. Looks like a pretty steep hill. We have had over 120" this winter and more forcast for tomorrow morning.

The ski resorts on the nearby Cascade Mountains have 183" of snow now, average is 84.

Actually at the stop sign it's not bad, but if you turn right there it's very steep with a sharp bend and very nasty when icy. I can usually make it in 4WD low in 1st gear.

We had the same thing down here in Portland this morning. It was nice - because it wasn't sticking.

March is definitely going out like a lion.

Its been snowing here since about 6 this morning. Right now it is snowing really hard. I really don't need anymore snow. I must have about 6 inches or better of new stuff.

I talked to my co-worker who's 30 miles north of here right now in Pullman, WA. He said when he got there...he stopped for gas......while he was fueling up, it started snowing and is blizzard conditions. He hopes he finishes working and gets home before they close the roads up there.

Here it stopped for a few hours but is snowing heavily again now. Never did stick to the roads today, but overnight it may. Saturday though, so I can stay home.

We got about 7 inches overnight and it is still snowing here in north Idaho. Must be that global warming thing. Oh well, when summer gets here I'm going fishing both days!

Walt.....Of course you'll have to walk to go fishing because we'll be in our "road construction" season then!:rolleyes::D

Hey....I'm not tired of snow. I live in what's called the "Banana Belt". We had snow once this winter.....must have been at least 1 1/2" ...maybe 2"........We've been in high 40's to 60 for the last several weeks.

Beautiful down there!

Thanks for the offer, but we do at least have cherry blossoms and daffodils blooming, even some tulips. They do look strange with snow all over. We had another dusting overnight and currently it's 32 and cloudy.

We got 7 inches here last nite, we are at 500 feet. The weatherman are clueless around here, must be hard to predict..They didnt say anything more than 1-3.

We're closer to 800' but we just got 5" or so, but they still missed with the 1-3" prediction. The roads are pretty messy this morning, but look pretty clear down below according to the WSDOT cameras.

Ken, you are right about the roads. We know spring has arrived around here when Fish and Game start stocking the potholes with trout.:D

I was waiting for the last bits of snow on the lawn to melt so I could mow, after two days of sun it was still there last night. Now it's gone but raining!
Yesterday when I got up it was 29, this morning 42. Finally normal for here.

I cut the lawn yesterday. Was weird to have snow piles and then in a shady area cut through the snow. I lived back east in mass for 21 years and havent had to do that.

The Lewiston grade/hill is an infamous hill. The song "Hot Rod Lincoln" was written about the Lewiston Hill by a guy who was playing in a local night club and returning to his Spokane home each evening. There have been 9 truckers killed on that hill in the 26 years we have lived here. The worst weather I've seen on that hill was in May some 7 or 8 years ago. I was in my basement office getting ready to go to Moscow, Idaho 30 miles north of here. It thundered so loud that it shook the windows in my house. My oldest son lived in Clarkston, WA across the Snake River from Lewiston. He called "Dad ...did you hear that thunder? The lightning struck just about 1/4 mile from our house." I left to go to Moscow....headed up US95...the Lewiston Hill...5 semis pulled off the road....the snow/slush was 5" deep...the crown in the road kept trying pull you off the road...one way or the other.....2 miles north of the top of the hill.....bare gound....the dark cloud that had come through and caused the thunder had deposited 5" of wet slushy snow and made driving extremely hazardous.

Ken-

It's 22:54 local here in Great Falls (Friday night), and we have a winter storm warning posted to begin at midnight. Forecast says up to 6 inches snow/slush here in the plains, up to 14 in the hills. It did the same thing last Saturday, when it snowed sideways for about 4 hours.

Personally, I'll take the snow any day over that twisty wind. Had one of those pass about 1/2 mile behind me about 20 years ago (visiting friends in Minnesnowta), don't really want to go there again if possible.

Wel, as it turns out, we didn't have any snow stick here in town. Just outside of town folks had anywhere from about 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 feet of white- just a function of temperature differential.

In respect to full disclosure, I have seen it snow in every month of the year here in Montana.

Here in the western U P of Mich. It snowed about 3 in. this morning and is currently 23 F, we are supposed to get another blast on Fri / Sat. A total of our snow in tonight's paper put us at 264 in. for the year to date. Thats about normal for us around here. We are really looking forward to spring. It was warmer here last week and rained and that melted a lot of the really tall snow banks down quite a bit.

Joe, These guys from the snow zone don't understand. We here in the rainy NW expect 6 months of rain, a little freeze maybe and 1 or 2 days or light snow in December or January. NOT snow in March and April, with most nights freezing. I am so waiting for the weather to warm up even if it is raining.
