Hi Everyone, I recently joined Sawmill Creek.
Some background: I live in Cape Town South Africa. I am experienced in working with Rhino CAD and En Route as well as Visual Mill. I have also done a lot of work with Photoshop, but I am a little thin on Corel Draw. I also spend a lot of time creating vectorized drawings based on bitmaps and jpegs. Almost all of the work I have done has been on rotary CNC machines (Multicam and Techno Isel).
I am looking to buy a laser for engraving of labels on plastics (or similar material). However, with current exchange rates, the prices are up in the stratosphere. I noticed that some members have bought used lasers, particularly Epilog. What would you say are the things one should look out for when buying a used laser.
And Chinese imports at about 10% of the price of a new machine?
Regards to all
Janus

I live in CT , South Africa.
Gimme a call and I will give you the heads up, used lasers here = trouble in 99% of the cases and there is limited support for various makes, there are a coupla guys supplying chinese lasers , but their markups on landed cost are 3-500%
At any rate , the laser might not be the correct tool for what you want to do.
