I made some finals out of cocobolo and put antique oil and it won't dry.
I have since found out that cocobolo is oily. What do you all use to
take the oil off so the finish will stick?
Thanks, Byron

Acetone, DNA, mineral spirits,...

I have tired pure carnauba wax and was quite pleased with the result

Not turning related but I have done some knife handles from cocobolo and just sand very fine and buff. The natural oils make for a very polished piece and it probably doesn't "need" any extra protection.

It you want to put a film finish than the solvents mentioned do a decent job. Just put the finish on as soon as the solvent has flashed off.
