Made some raised panel doors just before Christmas for a contractor friend as a present for his Dad using locally milled air dried butternut he supplied. I agreed to accept, via a very convoluted series of exchanges, an original PC porta-planer as payment. It has arrived. I've always wanted a portable planer for those in a pinch situations but never seemed to have the extra money to get one. This one cost only a bit of shop time, and it was a pleasure to work with all that beautiful wood.
I put this baby to some hard maple as a test, with the grain, against the grain, across the grain, that spiral carbide knife doesn't seem to care! Can't wait to use it on some doors, the fence was set to a 3 degree bevel when it arrived. It was well cared for by a now retired finish carpenter.
