My uncle was in town from North Carolina, so we had to make a trip to the casino. We checked out the new Lumiere Place in St. Louis, which is 2 blocks from my office. 3 hours later, I was up over $1,300 playing Blackjack and Craps. It was amazing.

Anway, we left before I gave it back and just placed a big Festool order with Bob Marino. (By the way, he's in training today getting to play with all the new Festool products including the Kapex.)

I ended up ordering the PS 300 Barrel Grip Jigsaw, the RS2E orbital sander and the Deltex DX93E Detail Sander and a bunch of sandpaper and jigsaw blades. That makes 6 Festool tool purchases in the last month. I think I'm addicted.

I know that without pictures it didn't happen, so I will post pics once the tools arrive. I would normally wait, but I was so excited about the casino win and the Free Festools that I had to post a gloat.:D

That's awesome, Tim!

I won $2500 on a Vegas quarter slot a couple of years ago. I used the money to buy a 50" plasma TV. Had I to do it over, I would have bought power tools! (Although the TV sure is nice.)

Hmm, while your efforts inspire me, I don't think I will have much luck convincing my wife that your method is a valid tool purchasing investment every time we are near a casino.

Funny story though, went with a friend to Harrah's downtown New Orleans, ended up sitting at a 3 card poker table (thinking it was black jack). We looked like complete idiots for about 10 minutes, then my friend flipped triple aces on a bet that paid 50:1 when he put 10$ down. Both of us starting with 30$ and he walked away with about 700$ and i ended up with around 300$. The rest of the table (who some looked like they had been there for most all day) were frustrated at these two young idiots who won out then took the money and ran.

Tim,

You really need to thank the people who DIDN'T win! ;)

Hmmm.... I'm heading to Vegas next week "on business" (really!). A bandsaw would be nice. And a new router. A few Festools...

I'll have to shoot for an Alex scenario though - don't know much about cards...

If you ever see a slot machine on the end of an isle with cherries in the center window, thats right when it's set to hit (soon) Sound silly? Try it :)

Slot machines and 21 machines are more my speed. I'll keep a look out Sean and give it a try. Look for a check in the mail if I win big! :)

Congrats on both the "money from the sky" and the resultant Festool Tim - nice story.

Congrats on the "big wins"!

I wish I could win the lottery or something, but I apparently don't live in the right kind of neighborhood to qualify for lottery winners...or tornadoes for that matter...:o

Gary,

I'll have you over sometime in the near future.

I hear you there. Most of the time, I leave the casino about even or a loser. Since I am only 2 blocks away (I can look out my office window and see the place), I figure I better spend it before I get tempted to push my luck. You know how that usually ends:mad:.

Even though I love the casinos, I have good discipline to stay away. My next casino visit probably won't be until July when I head to Vegas for a weekend. I'd rather use my discretionary income to buy new tools or something for the house than to finance the casino stockholders dividends, but its always fun to hit up the casino when my Uncle is in town.

Hey Vegas, how about, rather than giving away cars for jackpots, Festool! I'd bite.

No offense, Sean, but that's physically impossible. FYI, slot machines are never "set to hit". Whenever they are powered on, which is all the time, the internal computer is generating numbers; similar to constantly rolling numerous dice. When you put in money and hit the button or pull the lever, the numbers stop. Whatever that number is determines what will come up on the dials, then the "dice" start rolling again.

The internal computers on slot machines can be adjusted as to how often they are likely to pay out. This setting must be within local gaming laws and it can be set only at the factory. Thus, the old rumors about casinos loosening or tightening their machines on the floor are simply untrue.

Although, I gotta admit, I hit that $2500 jackpot on a machine at the end of an aisle at the Tropicana Casino. Based on my research, some casinos do indeed place machines set to be a bit more "loose" at the end of an aisle because it attracts attention when people win more often. Also, the older, less fancy casinos tend to set their machines to be more loose because they don't have the fancy atmosphere to attract players, nor the fancy overhead to pay for.

I'm just going buy personal experience more than once after a repair tech and I had a little talk. But thats ok, you don't have to try it. http://sawmillcreek.org/images/icons/icon12.gif

Then again, if it works, go with it!

Bob needs to set up shop near the casinos. Most of my Domino was paid for by my winnings from a January trip to Vegas.

A friend who lives in Vegas and works for one of the big gaming machine companies was telling us that they are about to go to a server-based system. The machines will be generic and controlled by the the central server (I'll bet more than one "server") They'll be able to change odds and even the particular game on the fly.

I get this mental picture of three random orbit sander pictures rolling up at the same time and then bells and whistles going off.

Nah, the bells are reserved for three Kapex's.

Since it really didn't happen without pictures, here is the proof. The Festool Fairy arrived yesterday with nearly 40 lbs of tools. I cannot wait to put these to use.

Thanks again to Bob Marino for the help.

One thing I found interesting is that under the Festool logo on the jigsaw, there was the Festo Tooltechnic name. I've never seen this on any other Festool tool.
