i am in the prosses of making a segmented bowl i want to make the bowl so that it has a spiral effect from the top to the bottom i am using 12 peice rings. what amount of overlap of the dark segments will make the spiral effect look best the overall height will be 20in

Curtis, the strongest construction is to place each vertical seam directly over the center of the segments above and below. That will also produce a nice spiral effect. Dividing the spacing into thirds also works; this will produce a steeper spiral. Maintaining a consistent alignment of the vertical seams is a challenge. One trick - don't focus on just the adjoining ring, always line up back to the beginning. Good luck.
